Villa Carrara is a typical Tuscan mansion of the late eighteenth century, at the center of a “farm” of about 27000 square meters. Surrounded by a typical “dry” boundary wall, adorned with a pergola of vines, inside which is still preserved the old farm structure. The villa was the home of Francesco Carrara, illustrious liberal jurist of the 19th century, one of the first scholars to advocate the abolition of the death penalty in Europe, then purchased at the beginning of the 20th century by the Jacopi family, who have lovingly preserved it for four generations. The interior of the farm is characterized by meadows and fruit trees, old olive groves and vineyards still cultivated. The villa is composed of three floors. On the ground floor there is a large dining room, a living room for reading books and relaxing, another living room with satellite TV, a bathroom with shower and a large kitchen in rustic Tuscan style. The kitchen has been completely renovated and is equipped with a large fireplace, an induction hob and all the necessary appliances. On the first floor, around a large central living room there are two double bedrooms, one bedroom with two single beds, a study and two bathrooms: one with shower and the other with shower and bathtub. The recent renovation of the old attic has made it possible to create two rooms – one with a double bed and the other with two single beds – and a bathroom with shower. In the basement of the villa there is still a cellar where oil and wine produced in the estate are kept. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi connection are available throughout the building. The villa enjoys breathtaking views over the Tuscan hills, the centre of Lucca and the surrounding countryside. Guests can enjoy this enchanting scenery while immersing themselves in the calm of the Tuscan countryside in a residence that is rich in the history of this land. The interior is characterized by period floors and decorations that have been carefully restored. It is furnished with original and elegant period furniture still in perfect condition. The furniture conveys a taste of the past and a feeling of sharing the atmosphere and history of the successive inhabitants of this villa, yet offers all modern comforts. The outdoor facilities allow guests to relax or eat in the garden.
